The Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter of the Association for Psychological Type International (DFW APTi) was formed to promote the understanding, constructive use, and valuing of human differences through the study and application of Carl Jung’s theory of Psychological Type.

In this theory, Jung proposes four main functions of consciousness: two perceiving or non-rational functions (Sensation and Intuition), and two judging or rational functions (Thinking and Feeling). These functions are modified by two main attitude types: extraversion and introversion.

The Myer-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is based on this conceptual theory, and that one of these four functions is dominant for a person most of the time.
